The Context:

Capital hosts the Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium every year. It’s a multi-artist concert billed as “the UK’s biggest summer party”. The event always sells out, so in addition to the 80,000 fans in the stadium, millions more enjoy the concert via live broadcasts on Capital, as well as photo and video content published on the brand’s socials.

The Business Challenge:

Whilst there were tens of thousands in attendance, hundreds of thousands consuming content on the socials and millions listening on air, Capital felt millions more fans were still missing out on the content featuring their favourite artists. Hence, they wanted to create a new way to engage fans.

The Solution:

Sometimes bigger is better, so we decided to push the best of the event content to digital billboards across the UK. We created an easy-to-use CMS interface powered using AWS EC2 & CloudFront for Capital’s marketing team; this allowed them to review and select their favourite event moments from the production and also allowed them to scan the socials for fan content too. 

Once they found something they liked, they could preview it in a pre-built billboard template, and if they liked what they saw, they could publish it in real time to over 1,000 digital billboards across the UK – with one click, the content was live within seconds.
